| | | | | | San Vito is situated at 3,214ft above sea level in Fila Costeña, one of the coastal mountain ranges of the southern region. Surrounded by mountains, San Vito is a good town for birding and offers a cool climate. The town has a population of about 10,000.
Post-war Italian immigrants founded San Vito in the early 1950s. The town still has a strong sense of its cultural roots, and Italian can be heard spoken in the streets. San Vito also has a large concentration of indigenous peoples. Guayami Indians, a nomadic group moving undisturbed in Costa Rica and Panama, are known to enter San Vito in traditional dress.
Costa Cana wanted to do something different by partnering directly with a coffee bean farmer from the San Vito Valley community. Costa Rica’s fertile soils have been enriched by volcanic ash, containing a slight degree of tropical acidity that is optimal for cultivating delicious coffee plants. The elevation, climate, and mineral-rich soil creates even distribution of the coffee plant’s root system, which enables the plant to retain humidity and to facilitate oxygenation.
This combination of ideal conditions is why Costa Rica produces some of the richest gourmet coffee in the world. Experience the quality of our premium coffee for yourself, and know that you are helping to make a difference!
